Bad Weather

Bad Weather lyrics

Verse 1

At 1:12, you text my name
From that red awning on Canal
You only circle back
When your sky gets loud
I keep your coat by the chair
Your keys in the ashtray dish
And that cheap black lighter
By the sink still clicks

Pre-Chorus

You don't come for the sun
You come for the shake
For the window against the wind
For the house to cave
I know your steps
By the pause in the hall
You knock like trouble
Then lean on the wall

Chorus

Bad weather, bad weather
You call me in bad weather
Bad weather, bad weather
I hold you in bad weather
Only when it's raining
(only when it's raining)
Bad weather, bad weather
You love me in bad weather

Verse 2

Past two, the corner store hums
Rain on the laundromat glass
You stood in my doorway
With your mascara half-math
I said, "Stay if you stay"
You said, "I never last"
Then you traced my palm
Like you already knew the blast

Pre-Chorus

You don't come for the sun
You come for the shake
For the window against the wind
For the house to cave
I know your steps
By the pause in the hall
You knock like trouble
Then lean on the wall

Chorus

Bad weather, bad weather
You call me in bad weather
Bad weather, bad weather
I hold you in bad weather
Only when it's raining
(only when it's raining)
Bad weather, bad weather
You love me in bad weather

Bridge

I ain't your clear sky
I ain't your goodbye
I'm just the room you return to
When the thunder rides
That old Ford outside
Still got your handprint low
And I hate how I need you
When the cold nights grow

Bad weather, bad weather
You call me in bad weather
Bad weather, bad weather
I hold you in bad weather
Only when it's raining
(only when it's raining)
Bad weather, bad weather
You love me in bad weather
