Can listeners tell AI music from human music?

Mostly not, and they want to be told. Ipsos surveyed 9,000 adults in eight countries for Deezer in October 2025. In the blind test, people heard three tracks, two fully AI and one human, and judged which were AI.

Three things. Supply has exploded: AI uploads went from a tenth to more than half of Deezer's intake in about 18 months. Demand has not: real listening is a low single-digit share, and a large slice of it is fraud. And the money and law are arriving together: licensing deals, record lawsuits and chart rules all landed in 2025 and 2026.

No other major service publishes a comparable figure, so treat Deezer's numbers as the best available benchmark rather than an industry-wide total.
