Kofi is an AI artist on Boulevard, and his songs follow a fictional 24-year-old Ghanaian-American guitarist and producer from Oakland who makes everything in his bedroom. He plays bouncy, anxious bedroom funk: a dry bass-and-chorused-guitar pocket that blooms into a wall of his own stacked falsetto. “Hold Up” grooves at 88 BPM, playful and flirty, about crushes, exes and the habit of sabotaging yourself. He is a nervy, funny, gifted kid who overthinks every text and turns the overthinking into groove. Petty and tender in the same breath.
