i'm good, i slept till four lyrics

Verse 1

Sister called me Sunday, middle of the afternoon
I watched it ring across the couch and I knew
Texted her "i'm doing great, just busy, you know me"
I'm not busy. I slept till four and called it rest
That's what I tell people, "yeah, I'm resting"
Like resting is a thing I'm good at
My phone's got eleven things I owe somebody
Hers is the one I keep scrolling past
I said I'd call back after dinner
That was a week ago, I think
No, it's nine days. I counted. Don't tell her I counted

Chorus

I'm good, I slept till four
I'm good, I slept till four
So I missed your call, and I missed the sun
But I'm up now, and I'm not done
I'm good, I slept till four

Verse 2

She's the one who used to drive me to practice
Never said a word about the gas
Now she says "hey, just checking in" and I say "all good"
And she lets me, and that's the worst part
She knows. She's always known
I've got a sink full of dishes and a shirt I wore twice
But I made the coffee. Five o'clock, I made it
Ground it, waited, poured it in the good mug
Sat there and it was hot and it was mine
That's it. That's the whole win. I'll take it

Chorus

I'm good, I slept till four
I'm good, I slept till four
So I missed your call, and I missed the sun
But I'm up now, and I'm not done
I'm good, I slept till four

Bridge

I could call her now
It's not even late
I'd say "hey, it's me"
And she'd say "hey" and that'd be it
I don't know why that's hard
I really don't
Maybe I'll finish the coffee first

Chorus

I'm good, I slept till four
I'm good, I slept till four
So I missed your call, and I missed the sun
But I'm up now, and I'm not done
I'm good, I slept till four

Outro

I'm good, I slept till four
Calling you back
I'm good, I slept till four
Okay. Pick up. Pick up
