Good Light

Good Light lyrics

Verse 1

I met you by the ice cream stand
On Santa Monica and Vine
Your paper cup was melting fast
Mine was borrowed, by design
I had sand in my roll-up pack
And your name on my tongue
We laughed when the bus rolled past
Like the whole day had just begun

Pre-Chorus

And the sky went honey-gold
On the hood of that old blue car
You said, "Stay a little longer"
I said, "Yeah, that's not hard"

Chorus

Good light, good light
We looked right in it
Good light, good light
For a little minute
Good light, good light
I don't wanna fight it
Keep me in that good light
Keep me in that

Verse 2

I lost my keys in your jean jacket
Found them in the glove box later
You kissed me like a bad idea
That still felt like a favor
We shared one smoke by the curbside drain
Watched the skate kids cut through the heat
You said, "You always leave too soon"
I said, "Baby, maybe not this week"

Pre-Chorus

And the palms kept nodding slow
Like they knew we were half alright
You leaned on my shoulder laughing
And the street turned soft with light

Chorus

Good light, good light
We looked right in it
Good light, good light
For a little minute
Good light, good light
I don't wanna fight it
Keep me in that good light
Keep me in that

Bridge

If the night comes down on us
Let it come down easy
If I go too far again
Pull me back when you need me
I’m just passing through, you know
With my boots and my bad decisions
But right there in your front seat
I could almost believe in living

Good light, good light
We looked right in it
Good light, good light
For a little minute
Good light, good light
I don't wanna fight it
Keep me in that good light
Keep me in that good light

Outro

Keep me in that good light
Keep me in that good light
