I'm Just Thorough

I'm Just Thorough lyrics

Verse 1

I made a list on a dentist card
Starts with: you ate the orange like an apple
Next, the dryer in your building sings B flat
Next, a goat wore your jacket in my sleep
It was a good goat
Next, you said "huh" like a door opening

Pre-Chorus

I'm not in love, I'm just organized
The card is full, I'm writing on my hand
On my wrist, on the bus window, fogged

Chorus

Item nine is your laugh, shut up, item nine
It rained and the sun came through anyway, rude
Item nine is your laugh, shut up, item nine
Had it alphabetized. Now it's weather.

Verse 2

Next, my toaster dreamed it was a lighthouse
And you were stealing bread off the shore
Next, your elbow knows my elbow
We never met, they just talk
Next, a bus of wet umbrellas
All of them open, all of them yours

Pre-Chorus

I'm not in love, I'm just thorough
The pen is dying, I'm pressing harder
On the receipt, on the fridge, on the fog

Chorus

Item nine is your laugh, shut up, item nine
It rained and the sun came through anyway, rude
Item nine is your laugh, shut up, item nine
Had it alphabetized. Now it's weather.

Bridge

Last item, you're moving in the spring
The next line is blank
I left it blank on purpose
It's not blank, it's a fish-shaped hole
Shit, it's just you

Chorus

Item nine is your laugh, shut up, item nine
It rained and the sun came through anyway, rude
Item nine is your laugh, shut up, item nine
I'll fold the card small. Eat it. Fine.

Outro

Starts with the orange
Like an apple
Huh
